(a) About
Rajinder Singh Matta joined the police service in 1980 and rose through every rank — SHO, DSP, SP, AIG, DCP and finally SSP — with postings across Jalandhar, Kapurthala, Bathinda and Hoshiarpur. Three times decorated by the President of India with gallantry, meritorious and distinguished service medals, and honoured with a State Medal by the Chief Minister, he retired in 2020 after four decades in uniform.
He joined the Congress in 2023 and now serves as Halka Incharge of Kartarpur — listening to residents daily, guiding them to solutions, and building the party from the booth up. He carries out the directions of the Punjab Congress Committee and the All India Congress Committee across rallies, dharnas, campaigns and social programmes.
